Research Park, Ann Arbor's oldest research park, may be re-zoned for a "green" retail/service development.

Now that property owners are no longer bound to the requirements to
only house research functions on the property, [developer Jeff] Hauptman wants to turn a
3.5-acre parcel at the opening of the park into a retail/service hub
for the 5.5-million-square foot office market south of Ann Arbor.
He
pictures a 30,000-square-foot center facing South State. Tenants might
include a drug store and restaurants, and the design would be
LEED-certified in a nod to the city's goal to encourage "green"
construction.
