Midwest real estate conference looks at waterfront developments in Detroit

Real estate professionals from the Midwest attended the Commercial Real Estate Women Detroit (CREW) conference at the Renaissance Center, at which waterfront redevelopments were a top discussion.

Faye Alexander Nelson, president and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, outlined how seed money from the Kresge Foundation is being used as a catalyst to promote $1 billion in economic development on the riverfront through public and private investment.

"It was a real tough situation for our community," she said. "There was no public access; now we’re 80 percent complete on the east riverfront RiverWalk."
