Robertson Brothers downtown Wixom project moves forward, nearly half finished

Tough economy and even tougher housing market be damned. Bloomfield Hills-based Robertson Brothers is pushing forward with its Tribute to Wixom Village Center project in downtown Wixom and experiencing a bit of success.

So far nearly half of the 50,000 square feet of office and retail space in the project is built and leased. Another 120 condos of the 566-unit development have been built. Of those, 110 have sold. The company sold 30 last year.

"That's down substantially from when we started but in this economy it's a success story," says Jim Clarke, a spokesman for Robertson Brothers.

The development is being built on a 90-acre parcel that starts across the street from city hall and stretches between Pontiac Trail and Maple Road east of Wixom Road. The plans call for building traditional two-story storefronts that respect the surrounding downtown architecture with office space on the second floor and retail on the ground floor.

There are also four styles of condos that range from Philadelphia-style brownstones, about 2,000 square feet each, to stacked–ranch style condos that start at 1,200 square feet. The condos range in price from $124,000 to $210,000. There are also plans to build single-family homes in the future as the project fills out.
