Model D Speaker Series on Oct. 21, when they'll feature two people -- John Hertel and Scott Clein -- both of whom are working to change the way Detroiters get around.
The Speaker Series event will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the
Russell Industrial Center in the Motor City Movie House. Networking and a reception will follow the hour-long presentation.
Hertel is the local transit czar, and will speak on the the Regional Transportation Coordinating Council's recently released transit plan for Southeastern Michigan, including a light rail or streetcar system down Woodward Avenue. (Hear more about it
here from
Model D Radio/Michigan Now reporter Chris McCarrus.)
Clein is an engineer with
Giffels-Webster, the firm which recently helped design a non-motorized plan that calls for more than 400 miles of bike lanes in Detroit. The plan recently got approval from Detroit City Council. Read more about it
here.
The event is sponsored by the
Michigan State Housing Development Authority,
Wayne County, the
Fusion group of the Detroit Regional Chamber, and
Model D, and is graciously being hosted by the Boydell Group and the
Russell Industrial Center. And also a big thanks to
Paxahau, which is handling the sound.
