Gov. Jennifer Granholm has approved a $46 million tax credit geared at enticing Chrysler LLC to expand its Jefferson North plant in Detroit. The expansion would create and retain 1,400 jobs.

The state is offering a tax credit valued at more than $6 million over seven years. The city of Detroit is also considering a12-year abatement worth an estimated $40.2 million.
