Ann Arbor-based Internet2's announced a new partnership between FiberCo, its fiber optic holding company and Ciena Corp, a Maryland-based company.
The two companies have teamed up to provide a variety of professional services and optical networking equipment aimed at helping Internet2 members with planning, installing and managing advanced networks.
Ciena offers products and services to develop optical infrastructure. FiberCo, which came to fruition in order to support the dark fiber initiatives of United States higher education and research institutions, will now offer Ciena's basic and professional services to Internet2 users. These services include network architecture and design, installation and program management.
FiberCo can offer Internet2 members a wide range of products within Ciena's FlexSelect Architecture to provide optical transport and switching capabilities.

This is the third partnership FiberCo has created to offer Internet2's members professional network services. FiberCo also has partnerships with Level 3 and Fujitsu.
