North Carolina-based RTI Health plans to open a branch in Ann Arbor and hire six Pfizer employees in September.

A search is under way for office space in the Ann Arbor
area for the company's new office. The number of
employees in Ann Arbor could grow, depending on how the
business goes, said Allen Mangel, senior vice president of
RTI Health Solutions.
Mangel said the Pfizer employees approached him about the
possibility of doing work for RTI Health Solutions in Ann
Arbor, and he thought it was a great idea.
"We view them as very, very high-quality - a great
bunch to work with - so we were very interested in them
joining us,'' Mangel said.
Frank Ascione, dean of the College of Pharmacy at the
University of Michigan, said it's great news that RTI
will open an office here.
"I think it's an excellent example of what
we're trying to do as a community'' in the
wake of the Pfizer announcement, he said. He added that one
of the keys was that Pfizer employees organized themselves
and contacted RTI.
