Altair Engineering grows internationally, looks to expand Troy workforce

Altair Engineering has done a good job of making its name in Michigan. And it's been none too shabby at establishing its brand abroad. But now the Troy-based firm is looking to continue growing definitively in both places.

"The growth in Michigan has been modest, but our offices internationally have been growing aggressively," says Michael Kidder, vice president of corporate marketing for Altair Engineering.

That would explain why about 450 of the firms 1,400-person global workforce are based in Troy. But Kidder's hopes to see the numbers on home-front start to swell a little bit as the firm targets 25 percent annual growth over the next couple of years.

Altair Engineering has enjoyed 22 percent annual growth in its revenue over the last half decade. It's done this as it has strategically positioned itself as a global player. It's a plan it continues to follow as it spreads its name further around the globe.
