With a $150,000 donation from the Chrysler Foundation, NextEnergy is one step closer to bringing alternative fuels to market.
The foundation announced the donation, dedicated to the group's alternative testing fuel platform, last week.
The testing platform was completed this summer and is now open for business, says NextEnergy spokesman Mark Beyer, and the group is now moving testing mechanisms onto it on behalf of their clients.
The alternative fuel testing platform allows fuels to be tested for their stability and efficiency before trying them out in vehicles or other power generators, according to a NextEnergy press release, and the fuel testing platform can also be used to advance the development of hydrogen and natural gas as alternative fuels.
The grant, Beyer says, helps defray the costs of a very expensive project.
"It's a building, a large bricks and mortar and testing equipment facility at a large capital cost," he says. "It is a revenue stream for NextEnergy and will be used by various corporations, dept of energy, national biofuels energy lab to test characteristics of a variety of alterative fuels
