Encore Energy growing rapidly with its geothermal heating cooling system

Brighton-based Encore Energy is translating rising energy costs and growing public awareness into sales and more sales. The diverse alternative energy company is juggling quite a few balls these days.

Here's what they've been up to.

Its geothermal marketing unit, DeMarco Energy Systems of America, Inc., have been busily installing the company's patented Energy Miser in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, Montana, South Dakota, Mississippi, California and Texas.

Geothermal heating and cooling systems essentially work by pulling heat away from a building in the summer and towards the building in the winter by utilizing wells drilled deep beneath. It is extraordinarily clean -- it uses no gas and very little electricity.

[Ed. note: Michigan has no tax credit program in place for the installation of geothermal systems, and that's really a shame.]

Encore also recently announced that it has become a sales partner for the Caribbean and southeast Florida for AMK-Solac Systems AG, promoting a system that has the potential to replace all electrical needs for hot water usage.

Despite electricity costs that are five to ten higher than the United States, the Caribbean market remains pretty untapped when it comes to solar. Encore aims to take advantage of that gap.

Brian Mello was recently brought on staff as senior vice president of sales and new business development. His priorities include creating public awareness about Encore's products, hiring sales staff and presenting energy solutions to corporate decision-makers.

"Geothermal technology is an untapped market ready to explode. Public awareness of the significant reductions in electricity and gas usage to business and home owners who install geothermal heating and cooling is rapidly increasing," Mello said in a statement.

He joins CEO Jack Tarry in the push to further grow the company.
