Global LT expects 30 percent growth as it approaches 30th anniversary

Business travel is tough enough. Throw in the vaguaries of a foreign language and culture and the chance for problems compounds. Global LT feels your pain. When in Rome, they want you to be able to do as the Romans do.

"We equip employees from corporations to work anywhere in the world," says Suzanne Smulsky, marketing and communications director for Global LT.

The Troy-based firm does that by offering services that help business people understand the language and culture of wherever they are going --whether it's a quick jaunt overseas or an ex-patriot relocation for corporations.

After 29 years in business the company has grown to 60 full-time employees (40 of which are in Troy), hundreds of contractors and an active internship program with Oakland University. Global LT also recently opened an office in London and sent a representative to Frankfurt.

The firm has added seven new people in the last year and expects to grow its employee base another 10 to 15 percent. That should come if the company continues to grow another 25 to 30 percent by next year. A goal that seems well within reach as more and more Metro Detroit businesses invest in fast-growing developing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India and China.

"We feel that our growth will continue as more and more companies go global and need our services," Smulsky says.
