Lawrence Tech gets $1m from feds for testing chamber

The federal government is tipping $1 million to Lawrence Technological University for testing vehicle components for military uses. The funds will be used to build an environmental testing chamber, which should be complete by summer 2008.

The $1 million appropriation, which was championed by Rep. Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak) and supported by U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, was included in the $471 billion military appropriations bill recently signed into law by President George W. Bush.
