Lawrence Technological University is reaching across an ocean and a couple of continents to forge a partnership with the National Institute of Technology in Warangal, India.
The collaboration will allow the two institutions of higher learning to share and exchange faculty and students, while working on academic programs together.
The first thing the two universities will do together is begin looking at ways to coordinate master’s degree programs so that course credits will be accepted at either institution. The first areas of concentration in line are automation and mechatronics at the master’s degree level.
The dean of Lawrence Tech’s College of Engineering, India native Devdas Shetty, started the conversation on collaboration between the schools. The National Institute of Technology in Warangal has a reputation for being very selective.
“The high caliber of students makes NITW a good partner for student and faculty exchanges,” Shetty says.
