Livonia software company to hire 25 in '08

You can do a lot with $5.5 million - just ask Kevin Choski, CEO of Livonia's WorkForce Software, Inc. The company, founded in 1999, produces workforce management software. Self-funded until now, WorkForce recently made a valuable connection with Texas-based venture capital firm ORIX Venture Finance.

Choski says the company's first move is to add staff to WorkForce's research and development team.

"We're adding more capability to the product and adding more sales and service people to support the product as we grow our service base," he says.

Choski says he expects to add about 25 positions in 2008, with an additional 35 to 40 in 2009.

"It's a rapidly changing market, and there are a lot of ideas in terms of adding scheduling capabilities, collecting time and attendance data, and we're doing a lot of work in the biometrics area - adding new biometrics to the product to enable employees to clock in and out with fingerprints." he says.

Workforce management software appeals to an unlimited market, Choski says.

"Everyone is a potential customer for us," he says. "We can go into school districts, government agencies, white collar firms, blue collar businesses..."

The company's existing facility should accomodate the WorkForce growth for at least a year and a half, Choski says, but the business will likely consider expansion or relocation after that.
