Lowry Computer to scan more employees into its business

Business has been good for Lowry Computer. The Brighton company has added 10 people in the last year.

It's been able to do this by letting one product lead its customers to more of its core offerings. For instance, the company specializes in selling systems integration for data collection, but selling that on its own isn't as easy as it is sounds.

So the company of 175 employees (about 50 are based in Brighton) started selling bar code scanning infrastructure. While its installing and explaining it, the company also takes time to make the case for its other data collection products. That turns out to be an easy sell and viola, profits.

"It gets us in the door," says Jeff Tazelaar, a product manager for Lowry Computer. "That allows us to pull through out traditional data collection systems."

If it continues to work for the company, Tazelaar can see it as an opportunity for a few more workers to get their foot in the door at Lowry Computer as the market demands it.
