Detroit high school students sweep national math tourney

Detroit Public Schools students won prizes in all three levels of the Bill Gates Awards at the National Academic Games Tournament.

The DPS students competed in several games at the 43rd annual National Academic Games Tournament at the 4-H Camp in Rock Eagle, Ga., but the award was given in equations.

The award winners were Jalin Garrison, from Bates Academy; Tiarra Harris, from Hutchins Middle School; Thomas L’Quan, from Cass Technical High School, and Donyell Williams, from Cass. Williams also won a $6,000 award for top performance in a logic game.
