McGraw Wentworth aims for best year ever, set to hire 3-6 people

Troy-based McGraw Wentworth is aiming for its best year ever next year, and that's saying something for the decade-old company.

The firm, which manages employee group benefits for medium-sized companies, has gone from 3 to 64 people since its founding in 1997. Last year's revenue was up 14 percent on top of the five people the company hired and the office it opened in Grand Rapids.

Those numbers are only expected to get better in the next year with revenue growth hitting 12-15 percent and the addition of another 3-6 people.

"We might have what could turn out to be our very best year so far," says Bill Wentworth, the company's co-founder.

And that's after McGraw Wentworth was named one of Inc's 5000 fastest growing private companies this year. Its 45.9 percent growth rate over three years cemented them as one of the nation's fastest growing insurance companies.

Wentworth gives credit for the growth to the company's employees, 93 percent of whom are in Michigan, that service the firm's 145 clients.

"Our company is all about the people," Wentworth says. "In order to meet our clients' goals we need professional competent people."
