Rochester Hills tax abatement encourages Ovonyx to add 10 jobs

Ovonyx Technologies, Inc. is adding 10 jobs to its Rochester Hills facility and has been granted a six-year local property tax abatement. Founded in 1999, the company develops memory chip technologies.

Ovonyx is investing $4 million in analytical equipment in its offices that will create 10 new jobs, each of which will pay more than $80,000 a year.

Ovonyx is developing phase-change semiconductor memory chips intended to replace Flash and eventually DRAM data storage. The technology is about to be introduced into the marketplace by Intel, Samsung and others. The major advantage of the new technology is speed -- it's 10 times faster than Flash.
