Advanced Photonix scores $200K federal grant

Ann Arbor's Advanced Photonix was awarded $200,000 in federal grants from the Federal Department of Defense with the ability to commercialize technology perfected during the grant period.

Excerpt:

The first contract is for non-destructive testing application development and proposes to demonstrate the feasibility of using the Company's current terahertz products to measure aircraft specialty coatings during the curing process. The proposed system will be suitable to monitor many different coating and painting applications for the USAF and other Department of Defense groups.

The second contract is to determine the feasibility of utilizing terahertz radiation for imaging high temperature polymer matrix composites to detect and map aging characteristics.
