The US Environmental Protection Agency has granted the Renaissance
Center Energy Star designation for its high standard of energy
efficiency. It is the eighth building to be so designated in Detroit
and the 50th in Michigan.

The Renaissance Center’s extensive renovations and investment in more
energy efficient infrastructure has saved more than 13 million
kilowatt-hours in electrical energy annually, or $900,000 in energy
costs savings. The upgrades included new lighting fixtures,
high-efficiency motors on air-handling systems, automatic lighting
controls, more efficient elevator drives and a green roof on some
levels, the EPA said.
