TI Automotive grows globally from its Warren HQ

If you read the papers (a dwindling population these days), it might seem like everybody in the automobile industry and their brother is heading for the hills.

Warren-based TI Automotive, however, is digging in its heels. Despite cutbacks, domestic automakers continue to provide TI with plenty of business.

"We continue to enjoy good relationships, good business with those customers," says Richard Hein, TI's vice president of global commercial. "Plus, we have always had good support from local universities, as far as the talent we are getting."

These local roots have now stretched across the globe. TI employs more than 16,000 people at more than 100 facilities in 27 countries. And it's not just about global production -- it's also about global customers. The company has been able to leverage its relationships with domestic automakers into relationships in Europe, Asia, India and Latin America.

In the last three months, the supplier was awarded contracts totaling $154 million annually with not just Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, but with PSA Peugeot Citroen, Toyota and Volkwagen.

TI makes fluid storage, transfer and delivery systems, including brake, fuel and air conditioning applications. The approximately 250 employees at the Warren facility work in administrative, financial, IT and management capacities, as well as in applications engineering, CAD and program management.
