Well, it's not a movie strictly about Michigan, but about what makes the state so unique - its lakes. HOMES - everyone remembers that. Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior. You learn it young here in this state and you never forget it. If you do, however, shame, shame, shame. "Mysteries of the Great Lakes" opens Saturday at the Detroit Science Center's IMAX.

"There's this general misperception of the Great Lakes as a big mud
puddle, citing pollution and invasive species, and its value as a
drinking fountain," says Johnson. "What the movie hopes to do is let
people know what an amazing, thriving ecosystem this is and why it is
worth preserving."
With legislation regarding the Great Lakes
currently in front of Congress, Johnson thinks that the time is right
for this film, which focuses on the plight of the nearly extinct
sturgeon population. The entertaining, educational movie works best
when it offers eye-popping views of the lakes from both the United
States and Canada.
