Washtenaw foundation sees millions in community assets

Leaders at the Ann Arbor Community Foundation hope to tap some residents' assets - a new study commissioned by midwestern community foundations say residents' assets could make substantial endowments.

Excerpt: Cheryl Elliott, president and CEO of the AAACF, said her nonprofit wants residents to consider giving 5 percent of their estate as an endowed gift to the foundation. That would equal about $263 million over 10 years.
