Lawrence Tech to offer tuition grants for displaced workers, their children

Lawrence Technological University is looking to offer tuition grants for up to 50 percent to displaced workers or their children for education in areas that will strengthen the state's economy.

Lawrence Technological University plans to offer grants for up to 50 percent of tuition to 400 displaced workers or their children for education in emerging-sector areas that would help strengthen the state’s economy.

The Southfield-based university said it also plans to expand its academic programming in emerging areas such as life sciences, alternative energy and sustainability and to host free career networking receptions and workshops to match displaced workers -- whether LTU alumni or not -- with employment opportunities, as part of its stimulus plan for displaced workers.
