Oakland Community College launches a reading project to bring faculty, staff, administrators, and members of the community together to check out a few books.
Excerpt:
Oakland Community College has launched the "OCC Reads" project this winter. Designed to bring together OCC faculty, staff, administrators and members of the community, "OCC Reads" will concentrate on a specific book, then explore the issues it raises through roundtables, discussion groups and speaker presentations.
Events are scheduled from January through June at all OCC campuses, and are free and open to the public.
This year's book is the New York Times Best Seller, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Relin. The book is a chronicle of Mortenson's dangerous and difficult quest to build schools in the wildest parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Copies of the book are available at all OCC bookstores.
