Michigan and Detroit are keeping up with other areas when it comes to biotech investments.
Michigan attracted five investments totaling
$64.7 million during the first half, down from eight deals for $73.5
million in the first half of 2008, but up from three deals for $63.4
million in thefirst half of 2007 and three deals for $5.6 million in
the first half of 2006.
The Detroit-Ann Arbor metro area was actually No. 2 among the
region's cities in getting deals, with three deals for $47.5 million,
trainling only Minneapolis with 11 deals for $116.9 mllion, and beating
metro areas like Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Ky., St. Louis,
Kansas City, Cincinnati and Cleveland.
