Tipping Point Theatre coming to downtown Northville

Construction work on the Tipping Point Theatre in downtown Northville is set to begin later this month.

The new live-performance theater is being built in a remodeled light-industrial building at the corner of Cady and Griswold streets. The building had been used as a demonstration site for car wash equipment before becoming vacant in recent years.

The new theater, set to open on July 9 for a kids camp, has 140 seats and will host live theater performances, similar to the Purple Rose Theatre (www.purplerosetheatre.org) in Chelsea. The theater will hire professional actors and perform a variety of plays, ranging from drama to comedies to classics to new productions.

The first performance will be of “Don’t Dress for Dinner” on Aug. 23. Plays will be performed on Thursday through Sunday and each production will last seven weeks.
