This fall, Lawrence Technological University will offer two new degrees, focusing on molecular and cell biology, as well as transportation design.
The Southfield-based University has worked with industry leaders to create a transportation design program that blends skills with technological influences. The program will combine in-depth conceptual investigations with hands-on projects and extensive exposure to those in the workplace. Course topics will include automotive interior and exterior design, ergonomics, industrial design techniques, manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements, sustainable technology and transportation history.
Lawrence Tech's new bachelor of science degree in molecular and cell biology marks its third new degree program geared to growing the life sciences sector of SE Michigan's economy. It is the first undergrad program in this area of biology in the state of Michigan.
Graduates with this concentration will be able to find careers in the medicine, public health and other life sciences. More than 550 companies in life sciences and biotechnology currently exist in Michigan.
