Macomb job fair to connect with engineering, design, IT talent

A professional job fair tomorrow is set to showcase engineering, design, information technology, cyber security and project management employment opportunities in Macomb County.

The free April 12 event will take place from noon to 3pm at the Sterling Banquet and Conference Center on Van Dyke and will include exhibits from employers such as BAE Systems, General Dynamics Land Systems, GroupeSTAHL and MB Aerospace.

Vicky Rad, director of Macomb County Planning and Economic Development, says the fair has grown out of feedback from companies in the county that have expressed a need to fill a gap in the employment pool, and that more than 30 organizations had signed up for the event.

“This job fair is a direct response to the demand we see for skilled and talented workers across the growing defense and aerospace industries in Macomb County and the greater Detroit area,” says Rad.

GroupeSTAHL's CEO Carleen Gray says getting a foot in the door with companies is the best way to advance in the industry. "At STAHLS’, our goal is to promote from within. We value each and every individual; with many of our management team starting on the warehouse floor themselves."

This will be the first event of its specific kind and Rad says more than 250 interested participants have registered to attend.

“So if you or someone you know is interested in working in those fields, this event can help in making connections that might lead to employment,” says Rad.

The fair will be hosted by Macomb County Planning and Economic Development, the Macomb County Chamber and Michigan Works!, and interested individuals are asked to register for the event at
