Continental Automotive NAFTA plans to expand its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills with more square footage and 170 new hires.
"It makes sense," says Brad Jackson, director of communications for
Continental Automotive NAFTA. "It's where our NAFTA head quarters is. We have the land at the complex and working with the state and Auburn Hills made it a viable plan."
Continental Automotive NAFTA is the third largest auto supplier in North America and a subsidiary of Continental AG based in Germany. It currently occupies three facilities in Auburn Hills and employs about 1,500 people there.
The new $1.5 million expansion project will grow the firm's South Campus building to 213,296 sq. ft. to accommodate. That new space will allow for additional office and vehicle laboratory testing space. The addition of the 170 new employees has already begun.
"Some of them are in the process (of being hired)," Jackson says. "They will be done over the next year."
