DaySmart Software got its start when Chris Jackson was getting her hair done at a salon and her stylist complained that there wasn't any good software programs geared toward managing salons. That's when Chris and her husband Mark Jackson, both engineers working for Ford, had their lightbulb moment.
That was 1999. Today the Wixom-based company provides business management software for salons, spas, animal groomers and other similar small businesses. DaySmart Software went from a kitchen table start-up to its own office in Livonia in 2005 to a bigger office in Brighton soon after and an even bigger office in Wixom a year ago.
"We just grew and grew ever since," says Chris, vice president & co-owner of
DaySmart Software. "We are continually growing and adding more features."
DaySmart Software now employs 40 people and independent contractor after hiring another seven people over the last year. It profits are up 40 percent over the last year and it recently made the most recent
Michigan 50 Companies to Watch list. The company continues to add features to its software, such as mobile apps and remote access control, while it prepares to launch a new version of it core product.
"We expect to increase our growth," Chris says. "We just continue to grow."
