Innovative Learning Group adds positions, named a "Michigan Economic Bright Spot"

Downtown Royal Oak's Innovative Learning Group is preparing to capitalize on its recent growth with more of the same this year.

The business education firm has hired three people over the last 15 months, bringing its head count to 10 employees and 20-30 independent contractors. It expects to make one or two more hires over the next year as it continues to bring in double-digit growth.

"We are always on the lookout for good folks," says Lisa Toenniges, president of Innovative Learning Group. "I am a firm believer in the perfect candidate."

The company creates a curriculum for firms to teach employees to be more productive and efficient. It counts 40 Fortune 500 firms as clients today, up from 30 in early 2009. It's also expanding its space, going from 2,600 to 4,000 square feet.

Innovative Learning Group has been able to grow its revenue 10 percent last year and is on track to increase sales by 20 percent this year, making it one of the Corp! magazine's 2010 Michigan Economic Bright Spots. The award is given to companies that are thriving in the state.
