Pillar Technology makes 20 hires, has 30 open positions

Business agility is the buzz phrase the leadership at Pillar Technology likes to use to describe its consulting IT services. Finding ways to streamline that product has allowed the Brighton-based firm to hire at quite a fast pace.

The 14-year-old firm has hired 20 people over the last year, rounding its staff out to 83 employees, 13 independent contractors, and six interns. It has 30 open positions right now and expects to keep up that pace in 2011.

"We continued to hire through the recession," says Jay Aho, vice president of Pillar Technology. "Our hiring is up right now compared to what we were aiming for."

Pillar Technology has traditionally provided custom-made software that helps make technology more efficient for businesses. Recently the company has discovered a pent-up demand for its consulting services when it comes to streamlining technology and IT options for growing businesses.

"We primarily work on transforming company IT divisions," Aho says.

The company has been fleshing out the consulting services side of its business over the last year and expects to continue doing so in 2011.
