Reliance One adds to employee base on strong revenue numbers

Traditionally, most of Reliance One's work has come from automotive-related business. However, the Auburn Hills-based staffing firm is riding high on both the growing auto industry and a diversity of new clients, such as health-care IT.

Reliance one has hired eight people over the last year, expanding the 13-year-old company's staff to 34 people and an intern with another intern on the way this summer. These new jobs were for recruiters who are helping automotive and health-care employers expand their employee bases.

"The automotive industry is taking off in Michigan," says Jim Paquette, vice president of Reliance One. "There is a high, high demand for engineers and technical talent."

Reliance One has also been helping health-care providers fill the growing need for IT workers. Recently passed federal regulations concerning digital medical records have forced health-care providers to beef up their digital workforce. Since Reliance One was already helping them with other staffing needs, it was in a good position to take advantage of this growing demand.

"It was a natural leap," Paquette says.
