These days Michigan is hungry for job creation in new economy sectors, such as IT, engineering and accounting. Resource helps fill them with the right people.
The Troy-based placement firm specializes in staffing those positions for other companies. Resource prides itself on achieving three times the industry average for new employee retention at client companies. An increase in revenues from $20 million to $25 million in the last three years suggests customers are getting the message.
Resource has been able to achieve this rate by hiring recruiters that they train directly. Meaning they look for employees straight out of local colleges rather than seasoned "pros".
"It works a lot better for us to build recruiters from the ground up," says David Chernow, chief of marketing for Resource (formerly Resource Technologies).
Within the last year the company has hired nine people straight out of college as it expands. It's firm has grown to about 60 people total, a little more than half work out of Metro Detroit.
