Troy-based Systems & People has high hopes for its new division, Synerjix.
The new office in the IT firm employs 15 of its 20 employees, and is offering a light version of its DatMobilä software to members of Automation Alley. The software serves as a cost effective alternative to expensive data integration and messaging solutions currently peddled on the market.
The idea is to help drum up more small-to-medium-size businesses looking for an outside IT department.
"They are typically the companies that don't have a budget for in-house IT," says Laura Oliveto, vice president of business development for Systems & People.
However, Systems & People does a lot of work for bigger corporations as well, such as K-mart. It's aggressively looking to take on another big client like that and another dozen or so smaller customers within the next year. If it wrangles that new business Oliveto can see the company hiring a few more people to its staff.
