VerbalWise sparking new business, jobs in downtown Plymouth

Sparkitect.

It's not an everyday word but it's a key piece of vocabulary in Tamme Quinn Grzebyk's new business VerbalWise. The downtown Plymouth-based company focuses on providing the "spark" that leads businesses and their employees to work more efficiently.

"We just spark something different in the organization that was probably there before but not being utilized in the best possible way," Quinn Grzebyk says.

One of the first things she does when taking on a client is making sure that everyone on staff learns to play nicely, whether they're the geeks in IT or the smooth talkers in sales. Quinn Grzebyk, who has experience in both areas, knows that even when both factions are highly skilled and motivated they might not necessarily be on the same page.

Her firm focuses on building bridges between departments and making them work in a complementary fashion. She points out that such cooperation usually makes the overall company more efficient and eventually profitable.

And it's making her firm more profitable, too. Since striking out on her own in the fall of 2006, Quinn Grzebyk has hired an employee and consistently uses a couple of contractors. She hopes to add a couple more people to the payroll within the next six months and eventually spin-off some facets of her business in the long term.

For now the downtown Plymouth resident is happy to keep her business in her little vibrant neighborhood. She points out that the cosmopolitan atmosphere facilitates her business and lifestyle, which go hand in hand.

"Downtown Plymouth is awesome," Quinn Grzebyk says. "It's perfect for people who want to walk to everything and it has a great sense of community. Each street is its own little community."
