VIOPOINT grows staff, aims for work outside of Great Lakes region

Decisions that businesses put off during the worst times of the recent recession are coming back to benefit VIOPOINT.

The Auburn Hills-based IT security firm specializes in providing IT security products and consulting services to small- and medium-sized businesses. It has watched the demand for its services rise in the last year or so, prompting it to hire three people in the last year. The 5-year-old company now has a staff of seven employees and a handful of independent contractors.

"A lot of purchases on IT security services were delayed because of the recession," says Mark Murphy, COO of VIOPOINT. "There is a lot of demand for them now."

Also driving the demand is the increased regulations that companies need to meet. That demand is most acute in the health-care and financial industries that have to conform to regulations from the likes HIPPA and Sabres Oxley legislation.

VIOPOINT plans to add a few more hires this year as it continues to spread it client base outside of the Midwest.
