VisionIT employs 1500, to add 30 more local jobs this year

Not all jobs are created equal and not all jobs created in Detroit are automotive. That's the message VisionIT is sending as it gets ready to continue its expansion.

Detroit has always been home to some heavy-hitting business names, ranging from GM to SmithGroup. But naming a big Detroit firm firmly planted in the computer world outside of Compuware is not easily done. VisionIT is trying to change that perception.

The IT firm based out of New Center employs about 1,500 people in nine offices across the country, most of whom work here in Detroit. Although it averages about 100 percent revenue growth per year, its revenues grew 372 percent in 2007 on the strength of $107 million in sales. This year it hopes to grow a modest 40 to 50 percent while adding another 30 jobs, such as IT recruiter and human resources.

"We've been one of the fastest growing companies in the city," says David Segura, CEO of VisionIT.
