Kids go green with Earth Day art contest

Michigan K-5 kids are invited to take part in the My Green School art contest, and their illustration for what makes their school green -- or what improvements could make it more green-friendly -- could win them some cool prizes.

Winners will have their art displayed at the Green Living Festival Charity Preview on May 12, printed in The Oakland Press, showcased at the Green Living Festival in Rochester from May 13-May 15, and permanently honored with a spot on the wall at ecoSTOREUSA's national headquarters in Madison Heights. They'll also win a Goodbyn lunchbox and Bobble waterbottle.

Judging the competition are Margaret Matta, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Chair of USGBC-DRC Green Schools Committee, prominent local artist Daniel Cascardo and retired elementary art teacher Brenda Pescia.

Applications and submissions are due on Earth Day, April 22. For more information on what to draw and an online application, click here.
